EDUARD VEITH

A Central European artist who was forgotten for many long years, he belonged, as Julius Berger or Hugo Baar, among the most important representatives of Moravian Austrians or German Moravians in Vienna. He became famous at the end of the last century. His frescos and paintings are exhibited in Bucarest, Paris, Berlin, Vienna, but also in Ostrava, Brno, Prague and of course in his birthplace Nový Jičín. The Prague German theater (today’s State Opera) has a curtain made by him plus eight ceiling paintings. He also decorated theaters in Ostrava, Brno, Berlin, Vienna, and The Prague Rudolfinum and Maria Theresian Hall of the Viennese Hofburg. We are still enchanted by the artistic heritage he left us.
