The Czech print house Kryl/Scotti started in August 1909 and soon became very famous with the quality of prints, especially Czech poetry. Best print house in Czechoslovak Republic before the World War II had to finish in September 1938 and the whole Kryl dynasty quickly moved to Kromeriz, where the most famous member of the family, poet, singer and composer Karel, was born. He worked at Radio Free Europe and was a symbol of revolution for young people in 1968. Helived in Nový Jičín as a child and came back to Nový Jičín after the revolution. His songs expressed disillusions and the depression of the 1968 occupation of the Czech Republic by Russian forces. Karel Kryl remained proud and very special personality until his timely death in 1994. A small commemorative plaque in Janacek Park is always decorated with flowers from Nový Jičín inhabitants who still remember and who still sing his songs.
